Cheer Rule Book

Cheerleading is a team sport that takes concentration, teamwork, and dedication. Because it is a team sport cheerleading takes all persons working together safely in a controlled and supervised environment. Our league is built on providing a positive learning experience in something our children can take with them for life. We are dedicated to teaching the children how to be better people while participating in a positive athletic activity. Parents please remember that cheerleading is just as important to your daughter as football is to your son. This is their time to shine also.

PRACTICE
It is important for all girls to be at practice on time and ready to participate. It will be your responsibility to make it to practice on time. It is important for all cheerleaders to participate for the well being of both themselves and the team. Practice will consist of warm up, learning and practicing cheers and chants, dances, motions, stunts, routines, and a cool down period. Full attention and participation will be expected from each cheerleader. Pre season practice will consist of 10-hour weeks; dates and times will be determined by the number of participants.

GAMES
All cheerleaders will be expected to be at all games 90 minutes prior to game time. This time is important for warm ups and any last minute practice of half time or quarter performances. All home games will be at Bolder Creek High School in Anthem. Away games can be as far as 50 miles, carpool is encouraged. Each participant is expected to provide or arrange transportation to and from all games. We will pass out schedules prior to the season starting.

COMPETITIONS
We are invited to several competitions throughout the year. However it will take full participation from coaches, parents, and cheerleaders to make this possible. We will schedule a parent meeting and discuss this matter further.

UNIFORMS
Uniforms are the property of the DHYFA. We will pass out uniforms at the beginning of the season. We will collect the uniforms at the end of the season. Each uniform will be expected to be returned in the condition in which it was given to you. DHYFA reserves the right to charge for damaged property. Each cheerleader will receive a shirt and short set to wear to practices and fund raisers, this is theirs to keep. Cheerleaders are responsible for purchasing the bloomers, socks, and shoes. I would like them to all match, this will complete the uniform/team look. We can purchase these items as a group through the association and receive a discount. DHYFA will provide hair ribbons for the games. All girls will be expected to wear ponytails and no jewelry.

SAFETY
My number one concern is safety. Cheerleading is considered a vigorous activity. There comes a time when participating in stunting and tumbling are fun and exciting to the girls. To ensure the safety of the cheerleaders they will start at the bottom and work their way up as their comfort zone grows.

FUNDRAISING
Fundraising opportunities will be available to help with the various extra expenses throughout the season. These fundraisers are not required but some parents do find them helpful.

The registration fee is $100.00. Please see home page for more details. The association fee will also be $100.00, however this is one of the cost that can be offset by fundraisers.
